On Girls’Day 2025, iBehave proudly joined the nationwide initiative to promote STEM careers for young women by showcasing the intersection of neuroscience, engineering, and data science at the University Hospital Bonn (UKB). Through hands-on experiences and lab tours, two of iBehave’s core technology platforms "CADRE" and "iBOTS" engaged participants with real-world applications of research and innovation.
Empowering Through Technology: The CADRE Experience
The CADRE team (Collaborative Accelerator for Development and Research Engineering), represented by Trace Robbins, Axel Block, and Dr. Benjamin Escribano, introduced students to the exciting world of prototyping, microcontrollers, 3D modeling, and 3D printing. The participants explored how these tools are used in neuroscience research, gaining first-hand experience in engineering processes that drive modern scientific discovery.
Their visit concluded with an inspiring lab tour, where the students saw how cutting-edge tools translate ideas into tangible research instruments. Learn more about CADRE.
iBOTS: Where Coding Meets Neuroscience
The iBOTS platform (the iBehave Open Technology Support Platform), led by Nicholas A. Del Grosso and his team members: Sangeetha Nandakumar, Ole Bialas, and Atle Eskeland Rimehaug, offered a deep dive into how biology, computer programming, and mathematics come together in the field of neuroscience.
Students were introduced to coding concepts through engaging demonstrations that linked digital tools with behavioral science. A highlight of the day was a guided tour of Dr. Sabine Krabbe’s neuroscience lab at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), where participants witnessed how interdisciplinary teams use experimental and computational techniques to investigate brain function. Fostering the Future of Women in Science
Girls’Day is a vital national initiative aimed at encouraging young women to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). iBehave is proud to support this mission by offering meaningful, immersive experiences that showcase the creative and collaborative nature of neuroscience research.
This event would not have been possible without the coordination and support of Maike Kersten, Training Officer at the Centre for Personnel Development, UKB. We also extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia and DLR Projektträger for funding and supporting the iBehave network.
By participating in Girls’Day, iBehave reaffirms its commitment to outreach, equity in science, and cultivating the next generation of innovators. We look forward to continuing to empower young minds through future educational initiatives.
