Spotlight on Prof. Dr. Tatjana Tchumatchenko of iBehave Network

We are glad to share that Professor Tatjana Tchumatchenko has accepted a W3 position at the Institute of Experimental Epileptology and Cognition Research (IEECR) and joined University of Bonn Medical Center in September 2023. A distinguished member of the iBehave research network and a leading Principal Investigator in SFB1089, Prof. Tchumatchenko is a great addition to our research community in Bonn and we are excited to work with her.

Tatjana Tchumatchenko’s research aims to understand the synaptic and neuronal mechanisms that generate the computational strategies in neural circuits. Her work focuses on the computational analysis of recurrent neural networks and their corresponding behavioral outcomes. For example, she examines the impact of supervised and unsupervised synaptic learning rules on computational network outcomes. In addition, she is interested in the organization of molecular dynamics within dendrites and explores how protein dynamics contribute to synaptic plasticity. Ultimately, her research aims to understand how complex behavioral functions, such as navigation, decision making, and memory, emerge from the activity of recurrent networks.

We warmly welcome Professor Tatjana Tchumatchenko to the Bonn Neuroscience community and are looking forward to many exciting scientific collaborations.
