Frank Bradke Receives Esteemed Academy Prize from the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences

Bonn, June 16, 2024 — Frank Bradke, renowned neurobiologist and leader of the "Axonal Growth and Regeneration" research group at DZNE Bonn, has been awarded the esteemed Academy Prize by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. The prize, valued at 50,000 euros, recognizes Bradke's exceptional contributions to the field of nerve cell development and regeneration. His pioneering research aims to revolutionize the treatment of spinal cord injuries, addressing a critical need in medical science.

Bradke's groundbreaking work focuses on understanding the intricate mechanisms that govern nerve cell growth and regeneration following injury. His research, conducted with cell cultures, mice, and rats, has unveiled fundamental insights into the cytoskeletal dynamics crucial for nerve cell extension. His discoveries hold promise for unlocking new therapeutic avenues to stimulate nerve regeneration post-injury.

Bradke is a distinguished member of prestigious scientific societies including the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
